President's Message
Spring has arrived and it won’t be long until we are once again in the rink enjoying another year of hockey. 2023-24 saw a big increase in registration, with our numbers up to 857. It was great to see the smiling faces and the comradery that comes with being part of a team. I am hopeful we see much of the same in the 2024-25 season.
I would like to thank the coaches, managers, parents, officials, volunteers, and players for everything they did for the great sport of hockey last season. As a parent of two hockey playing children, I see first-hand the joy it brings to them to be part of a team and play the sport they love.
I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing summer.
Yours in hockey,
Tim Lang

You will only need to log into your RIS account and add Hockey Brandon.
Prep-Skates
Hockey Canada consultants have targeted the U11 and U13 levels in the long-term player development model and player pathways. This has introduced minor hockey associations to host Prep-Skates for these groups. At Hockey Brandon we offer Prep Skates for all U9, U11, U13 and U15 players. Prep skates will be scheduled, and they will be posted on our website. Each player at U9 will receive 2 hours of ice time. Each player at U11 & U13 will receive 4 hours of ice time. Each player at U15 will receive 2 hours of ice time. If a player is attending AA or AAA tryouts the Prep Skates for those players will be held right before those tryouts. Any player not attending AA or AAA tryouts will attend a prep skate scheduled closer to “A” team tryouts and House League evaluations. A player will only be eligible to attend one set of Prep Skates. These are not tryouts, and as such, will take place before any tryouts are scheduled. This is for both the coed and female divisions. Costs are included in your registration fees, so no other fees will be collected.
Tryouts
Players who will be attending the following tryouts: U17AAA, U15 AAA Male, U15 AAA Female, U15AA, U15A (Double roster) U13AA, U13A, U13 Female AA, U11A1 and U11A Female (Double Roster) must pre-register for each tryout at the time of registration. Tryout fee MUST be paid prior to attending a tryout. All double roster programs are tentative currently. Please go to Hockey Brandon website for Tryout dates for each age group.
Skills & Development Program: Lead Ice Instructor: Tyler Dittmer
We will be offering a weekly program with a strong emphasis on skating and development skills important to the game. The 15 sessions will run weekly at 7:00AM. There will be two sessions, one session is open to players from the U9 to U11 divisions, and one session for U13 -15 players. The fee will be $475(subject to change) and must be paid in full prior to attending first session.
Grassroots Goaltending Program
Hockey Brandon is pleased to offer our U9 and U11 Grassroots goaltending program. With support from WCHA and Hockey Manitoba, we are offering an introduction to a goaltending program in Brandon. The 10-week program will be hosted at J&G Arena on Monday evenings this season. The program is open to any U9 or U11A2 goalies who are interested in playing goalie on a more full-time basis. The program will focus on basic, fundamental movements for goaltenders and start to being a solid foundation for future development. U9 teams are once again going to be provided with equipment so each goalie can use their team issued equipment for this program. The cost of this 10-week program is $350 (Subject to change) for each participant.
Hockey Brandon is also offering a U11A1-U17AAA “Next Level” goalie development program for the 2024/25 season. This program is designed to help grow our goaltenders (both male and female) and continue their development. The program will be hosted at J&G Arena in the main arena and will be under the guidance of Colin McGill. The program will be focused on fundamental skating movements, tracking and positioning for goalies at their level. The program cost will be $350 (subject to change) per participant and the ice times will be shared with their goalie partner or with another goalie in their division.
We are very excited to again offer these goalie development programs for the upcoming 2024/2025 season and feel there is a tremendous opportunity for our goaltender growth in Brandon.
Registration for these programs can be done online at the time of Hockey Registration and must be paid prior to attending the first session.
If you have any questions about these programs, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Matt Calvert, VP of Player Recruiting & Development
